Panzura Data Services Analytics

Analytics provides at-a-glance statistics for Panzura CloudFS and other connected SMB or NFS file shares.

Analytics charts and statistics are based on the information of all connected nodes and clusters of an account, and this data is updated once per day.

Analytics covers two categories: data and audit, shown in two tabs at the top of the page.

Data Analytics

Data Analytics uses metadata from CloudFS and other connected file shares to show you metrics such as available capacity, what's consuming storage, file age, size and location.

Charts on this dashboard allow you to visualize files by quantity and age as well as file size and age.

Clicking on any chart section (eg hot, warm, cold, file size or files added/removed by day) allows you to drill into the files comprising that metric.

dataservices-analyticsdash2Storage charts group data by age as follows:

  • Hot: for items aged less than 7 days
  • Warm: for items aged more than 7 days, but less that 30 days
  • Cold: for item aged more that 30 days

And provides Count/Age and Size/Age charts: which are the number and size of  of the files respectively, based on

  • File Creation Data: in which the ages of the files is counted based on their creations date
  • File Last Modification Data: in which the ages of the files are counted based on the date on which they are last modified

Added Data visualizes the aggregated change in the used capacity of the nodes on a daily basis.

File Type Distribution at the bottom of this section shows total number and size of files by type. Clicking on any file type in the graph will run a search operation showing all files of that type.

Using the Actions menu at top right of the chart, you can:

  • Select individual nodes to show files only on that node
  • Export a summary list of files by type
  • Block a file type from inclusion in the graph

Audit Analytics

Audit Analytics uses the same audit records of the file systems that the Audit service relies on, to report on user behaviour and files and folders access statistics.

Audit Analytics is only available to CloudFS systems, and not the open NFS/SMB plugins.

The following features are available for the Audit Analytics service:

Top Active Users: which is a chart presenting the users with the highest numbers of audited actions on files and folders, and their corresponding activity number.

Clicking on any bar in the chart automatically runs an Audit search for that user and displays all the actions the user has taken.

Users can select the various time periods for the chart, from right below the chart. The options for time periods are: 1 Day, 7 Days, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year, and All

Using the Actions dropdown menu, on the top right of the section, you can:
Select individual Node to limit the chart to the audit actions taken place on only on one specific Node

    • Export the full list of users with their corresponding activity
    • Block a user, to prevent showing their activity in the chart

Top Accessed Files: which is a chart that presents the files with the highest numbers of activity on them, in terms of audit actions, along with their corresponding activity number. Below summarizes the features of this section:

  • Clicking on the chart's bar automatically runs an Audit service search for that file in the File Audit page, and displays the complete audit history of the file
  • Users can select the various time periods for the chart, from right below the chart. The options for time periods are: 1 Day, 7 Days, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year, and All
  • Through the Actions dropdown menu, on the top right of the section, you can:
    • Select individual Node to limit the chart to the audit actions taken place on only on one specific Node
    • Export the full list of users with their corresponding activity
    • Block a user, to prevent showing the their activity in the chart

Top Accessed Folders: which is a chart presenting the directories with the highest numbers of activity in terms of audit actions, as well as their corresponding activity number. Below summarizes the features of this section:

  • Clicking on the chart's bar, automatically runs an Audit service search for that user in the File Audit page, and results in the all the audit actions for that directory
  • Users can select the various time periods for the chart, from right below the chart. The options for time periods are: 1 Day, 7 Days, 1 Month, 3 Months, 6 Months, 1 Year, and All
  • Through the Actions dropdown menu, on the top right of the section, users can:
    • Select individual Node to limit the chart to the audit actions taken place on only on one specific Node
    • Export the full list of users with their corresponding activity number
    • Block a user, to prevent showing the their activity in the chart

Top Active Folders: which is a table that presents the top 10 directories with the highest numbers of activity in terms of audit actions. For each of the presented directories, the most active users who are responsible for those activities are also presented, as well as the volume of data added to or removed from that directory by each of those most active users. Below summarizes the features of this section:

Clicking on the chart's bar automatically runs a Audit service search for that user in the File Audit page, and displays all the audit actions which the user has taken for that folder
